Surgical Operating Microscope Enhanced Dentistry
Technology has improved all areas of dentistry and use of the surgical operating microscope in root canal therapy is a truly valuable enhancement. The magnification and superb shadowless lighting into the root canal system helps to provide the best treatment. Also, locating and magnifying hairline fractures in the teeth aid in better diagnosis and determining success.

VELscope- Enhanced Oral Cancer Screening
We are happy to announce that the VELscope technology has been added to the practice to enable us to improve our oral cancer screening.
The VELscope system helps dental professionals visualize abnormalities in the mucosal tissues of your lips, mouth and upper throat. In just two minutes, with no rinses, stains or discomfort, a VELscope examination lets healthcare professionals improve their assessment of your overall oral health.
Digital X-Rays
Digital radiography is the latest form of x-ray imaging, which involves the use of digital x-ray sensors instead of traditional photographic film. Digital radiography helps dental professionals make the most accurate and efficient diagnosis, and quickly develop treatment plans. A small sensor is connected directly to a computer instead of a film packet. When taking x-rays, the sensor is moved from tooth to tooth. The x-rays are available immediately on the computer monitor, with no development step in between. Since the digital x-ray exposure is shorter than conventional x-rays, the amount of x-ray radiation is reduced by up to 90 percent.
- Faster and more efficient.
- View images instantly.
- Less radiation exposure.
- Images can be enhanced to improve viewing.
- Images can be stored electronically.
- Avoid the use of chemicals used in the traditional developing process.
LANAP
NEW LASER TECHNOLOGY FOR TREATMENT OF GUM DISEASE
NO SCALPEL OR SUTURES
LANAP is a breakthrough laser periodontal disease therapy. Traditional treatment for periodontal disease (gum disease) often required gum surgery which involved cutting away some of the gum tissue and reshaping the bone underneath. It is the first laser gum surgical procedure to gain FDA clearnce- Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure.
Dr. Lam is pleased to announce that he has incorporated the Periolase to perform LANAP in his office. Dr. Lam is one of a handful of dentists in Canada to be fully trained and licensed to perform Laser Periodontal TherapyTMÂ (LANAP).
LANAP is a minimally invasive technique using a specialized laser to destroy the bacteria which cause the disease, and alter the tissue so that it has an opportunity to heal. The laser preserves more tissue and avoids the scalpel and sutures of traditional gum surgery. For the patient, the recovery is much faster and less painful.
